I was telling my sister about that hiking trail we tried last weekend and she could not stop laughing at the part where I slipped on the wet rocks. Honestly it was a bit embarrassing but the view from the top was absolutely worth it. We started early around six in the morning and the sunrise was gorgeous. The trail was about five miles round trip with a steady incline most of the way. I thought I was prepared with enough water and snacks but by the time we reached the summit I was completely out of breath. The funny thing is my sister who works out way less than I do was totally fine. She kept teasing me about it the whole way down. We saw a deer on the trail and some really cool wildflowers that I need to look up because I have no idea what they were. Anyway we are planning to go again next month maybe try a different trail that is supposed to be even more scenic. I will let you know how it goes.

You know how I have been trying to perfect my sourdough starter for weeks now. Well I finally got a good rise on my last loaf and the crust came out perfectly crispy. I used a different flour blend this time half whole wheat half bread flour and let it ferment for about twelve hours. The texture was so much better than my previous attempts. I brought a slice to my neighbor and she asked for the recipe which felt great. The key I think was maintaining a consistent temperature during the bulk fermentation. I kept it in the oven with just the light on and that made a huge difference. My next experiment is going to be adding some seeds and maybe trying a cinnamon raisin version. I also want to try a cold overnight proof to see if that develops more flavor. Baking has been such a fun hobby to pick up and it is nice to have fresh bread around.
