I started reading that novel you recommended and I can see why you thought I would enjoy it. The pacing is deliberate but the character development draws you in gradually. I am about a third of the way through and the setting reminds me of some of the coastal towns we visited a few summers ago. The author has a way of describing the environment that feels immersive without being overly detailed. I would be interested to hear what you thought about the later chapters because I have a feeling the narrative shifts direction based on some early clues.
