You asked about that hiking trail we did last spring and I finally found the map we used. It was the Blue Ridge loop near the old fire tower. The trailhead is about a mile past the ranger station on Route 12. Parking is limited so we had to get there pretty early. The elevation gain is moderate but there is a really nice waterfall about halfway through. We packed sandwiches and ate at the summit. The weather was perfect that day not too humid and just a light breeze. It took us about four hours round trip with stops for photos. You should definitely add it to your list for this fall when the leaves change.
Also I am thinking of adopting a cat from the local shelter this month. They have a few older ones that are really sweet and just need a quiet home. I have been reading up on cat behavior and it is fascinating how they communicate with their whiskers and tail positions. Let me know if you have any advice on making the transition smooth for a rescue pet I know you have a lot of experience with it.
