Hey, I finally got around to trying that new brisket recipe you sent me last month. It turned out way better than I expected. I was a little nervous because I don't usually cook meat low and slow but the rub you recommended really made a difference. I served it with roasted potatoes and a simple arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette. The whole meal came together nicely. I also added a little smoked paprika at the end just because I wanted a deeper color on the crust. My partner kept going back for seconds so I'd call it a win. Let me know if you have any other recipes tucked away. I also wanted to ask about that garden project you mentioned. Did you ever decide on the layout you were going to use for the raised beds? I've been sketching some ideas for mine and I keep going back and forth between a U-shape and a straight row setup. Anyway, no rush on any of that. Hope you're having a good week so far and that the weather is treating you well wherever you are. Talk soon.

I just got back from a walk around the reservoir and the foliage was starting to change. There were these patches of deep orange and yellow that caught the afternoon sun and it made me wish I had brought my camera. I have been trying to get outside more lately because sitting at my desk all day has been wearing me down. I picked up a used pair of trail runners last week and they are surprisingly comfortable for something that was marked half off. I also stopped by a little bakery on the way home and grabbed a cinnamon roll that was still warm. It was one of those afternoons where everything felt a little quieter and I didn't mind just wandering. I also ran into an old neighbor I had not seen in years. We stood there catching up for probably twenty minutes. She told me her daughter just started college and that they are planning a trip to the coast next spring. It was good to hear someone else's news for a change instead of just recycling my own. Anyway I wanted to share that little moment because it made me think about how we don't pause enough. Hope you are doing well on your end.
