I think the best way to handle the mulch is to get the cedar blend from the landscaping supply place on River Road instead of the big box store. The quality is noticeably better and the price per cubic yard is actually lower when you buy in bulk. We need about three cubic yards to cover the front flower beds and the area around the new trees. I already measured everything twice to be sure. The delivery fee is flat rate within ten miles so that works in our favor. If we schedule the drop for Friday morning, we can spread it over the weekend before the heat picks up. I also picked up some landscape fabric to lay down underneath which should help with weed control for at least a couple of seasons. The river stones we talked about using for the border are in stock and they have a nice charcoal tone that will contrast well with the red mulch. Let me know if Friday works for you or if another day would be better for the delivery timing.

I think the hiking route we discussed would work best if we start from the Ridge Trailhead and take the loop counterclockwise. The elevation gain is more gradual that way and the views from the summit come earlier in the day when the light is better. I checked the park website and they said the trail is in good condition with only a few muddy spots near the creek crossing. We should bring trekking poles for that section. The total distance is about eight miles which should take us roughly four to five hours with breaks. There is a nice shaded spot about halfway with a stream where we can stop for lunch. I will bring the lightweight stove so we can have hot tea or coffee. Also, the ranger station confirmed that water sources along the trail are reliable this time of year so we can filter water and carry less weight. Let me know if you want to adjust the start time or if you need help with gear.
