Don't let Kroger points expire, convert today
I found three jars of the same spice and a bag of rice that had definitely seen better days. You should have seen the way I just laughed. Sometimes you have to just laugh at the little messes. I think we should do a movie night next week if you're around. Nothing fancy, maybe pop some corn and pick something neither of us has seen. I'll bring the blankets because I know your couch is basically a sheet by now. Let me know what night works.

I keep saying I'll get new hiking shoes and then never actually do it. Maybe this weekend I'll finally go to the store and look. Not the outlet place, the other one that has the good insoles. Last time I went I spent way too long looking at water bottles and walked out with one that leaks. Classic me. Let me know if you want to come along and we can grab lunch after. I'm free most of Saturday.

I was just telling my sister that I finally found a good recipe for zucchini bread, the one where you use olive oil instead of butter and add a little orange zest on top, it comes out so light and fresh every time. She said she tried something similar but hers got too soggy in the middle, probably because the loaf pan was too small and the batter sat too long before the oven finished preheating. So I told her to lower the rack one notch and sprinkle some oats on the bottom before pouring the batter in, that usually fixes the dense center problem for me anyway.

I got your note about the book club list and honestly I finished the first half of the novel already, the pacing is odd but the chapter in the greenhouse is worth it, the way it shifts from dialogue to that long description of rain on glass is really well done. I think we can skip the historical notes at the end though, or at least not assign them, because it bogs down the conversation and nobody really likes to read endnotes after a solid story anyway.
Today is the last day for your CVS Points
I kept saying I would finally organize the bookshelf but instead I made soup from scratch
It took three hours and honestly the kitchen looked like a small storm passed through
Now I am trying to decide if it was worth the effort
Spoiler: it probably was not but at least the leftovers are good
Anyway, tell me what you ended up doing on Saturday
I heard it rained for a bit in your area

The rest of the afternoon I just watched old baking shows and folded laundry
There was a moment where I thought about calling you to ask about the bike path but then I dozed off
Monday came around faster than expected though
Any chance we can do that drive next weekend if the weather holds up
I also found a weird little ceramic dish behind the couch if you recognize it
Tomorrow ends your Costco account membership
We sat near the window and stayed way longer than we planned because the rain just would not let up. The waitress kept refilling our cups without asking and she told us this whole story about how the building used to be a hardware store back in the eighties.
I keep thinking about the way she laughed when she said the original owners painted the ceiling blue to keep the flies away. Not sure if that actually works but now I want to paint my porch ceiling the same way before the summer hits.
Anyway, next time you are back in town, lets go again. I will drive this time, and we can sit on the side with the booths because the stools by the counter are way too wobbly for my liking.
Hope your week settles down a bit, and tell your sister I asked about her garden. I still have that photo of the giant zucchini she grew last year saved on my phone.

There were about six or seven people there with those colorful yoga mats, all lined up near the small stone wall. I just sat on the bench with my tea and watched them for a while because the instructor had the kind of voice that carries across the whole field.
A little kid on a scooter kept circling the fountain and his dad was chasing him with one shoe in his hand. I think the other shoe ended up somewhere near the flower beds, but they were both laughing so hard it did not matter.
I ended up staying until almost noon, then walked over to the used bookstore on Pine Street and found a whole shelf of old astronomy guides. The covers were faded but the diagrams inside were surprisingly detailed.
Sometimes I think weekends should always be exactly like that. Nowhere to rush to and nothing to answer, just the sound of leaves and the occasional bird making a fuss over a dropped pretzel.
