I found a pretty decent podcast about local history the other day. The host visits old train stations and talks about how the towns grew up around them. It is the kind of thing I can listen to while folding laundry or washing dishes without losing track of the story. I have always liked the idea of learning something new in small, casual bites.
There is a small bakery near my office that makes these incredible blueberry muffins. They are not too sweet, and the berries burst a little when you bite into them. I have been meaning to ask the owner if she uses fresh or frozen blueberries, but I always forget by the time I make it to the counter. Maybe next week I will remember.
My sister is visiting in a few weeks, and we are trying to plan a day trip to a botanical garden. She loves taking photos of unusual flowers, and I mostly enjoy sitting on a bench and reading while she wanders around with her camera. We have done this a few times before, and it always ends up being a relaxed, unhurried day.
I have been experimenting with making my own granola instead of buying it at the store. It is surprisingly easy, and I can control how much honey goes in. The last batch had a little too much cinnamon, but it still tasted good over yogurt with some sliced banana. Small kitchen wins like that make the week feel a bit more manageable.
