I think the trailhead suggestion you mentioned could work well for Saturday morning. Starting by 7 would give us enough time to reach the ridge before the afternoon heat sets in. The loop you described is roughly eight miles with about fourteen hundred feet of elevation gain which seems manageable if we pace ourselves. I checked the weather forecast and it looks clear with highs near seventy five so we should bring extra water and some snacks. If you want we can stop at that bakery on the way out of town for sandwiches to pack. Let me know if you prefer the longer route that goes past the old fire lookout or if sticking to the main loop sounds better. I have the map spread out on the table right now and the creek crossing should be low enough this time of year to cross without getting soaked. We might see some wildflowers still blooming in the upper meadows which would be nice. I can drive if you want to meet at my place around six thirty.

I have been thinking about the best way to approach the backyard patio project and I think starting with a concrete base rather than pavers would give us a more stable surface in the long run. The area we measured last weekend is about twelve feet by sixteen feet which would require around two and a half cubic yards of concrete if we pour it four inches thick. My neighbor did something similar last year and he recommended using fibermesh reinforcement to help control cracking. We would need to rent a mixer unless we want to order a ready mix truck which might be easier for that volume. I can help with the grading and forms if you can handle the finishing work. We should also think about drainage since that corner of the yard tends to collect water after a heavy rain. I was looking at some photos of stamped concrete patterns that could give it a nice finished look without the cost of stone. Let me know when you want to start and I can reserve the equipment for a weekend.
