Sampler of Steaks From Omaha Steaks - Just 500 Left Today

Yes we finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you mentioned last month. I made it on Sunday afternoon while the rain was coming down outside. The sauce took a bit longer to reduce than the instructions said about forty five minutes instead of thirty but the end result was worth the extra time. I used a mix of mushrooms from the farmer's market instead of just the white button kind and that gave it a nicer earthy flavor. Next time I might add a splash of white wine early on to see how it changes the depth. Let me know if you have made any adjustments to the technique because I am curious how other people approach it. The leftovers held up well too which is always a good sign.

The garden beds are doing well after that slow start in early spring. I ended up putting the tomato stakes in a bit later than planned but the plants seem sturdy enough now. The basil has taken off nicely and I have been pinching the tops to keep it bushy. I tried that method of watering at the base instead of overhead and it reduced the powdery mildew on the squash leaves considerably. Have you had a chance to start your pepper seedlings yet or are you waiting for the soil temperature to come up a bit more first. I found that covering the bed with black plastic for a week before transplanting made a noticeable difference in how quickly they established.
