Yeah I think that sounds like a good plan for Saturday. The weather forecast looks decent so we should be able to get out to the trailhead by mid morning. I checked the park website and they mentioned the loop is open again after the maintenance work they were doing. We should probably bring extra water since the temps are expected to climb in the afternoon. Let me know if you want to stop for lunch somewhere on the way back or if you prefer to pack something. I was thinking we could try that new spot that opened near the entrance but I havent been there yet so Im not sure what the wait times are like. Either way Im flexible. Just let me know what works for your schedule. I can pick you up if thats easier.
Also the road construction on the main highway should be finished by then so the drive should be smoother than last time. I checked the alerts and there are no closures scheduled for that day. I think we should aim to leave by 8am to beat the crowd. Let me know what you think.

I tried making that lentil soup recipe you mentioned and it turned out pretty well. I made a few adjustments though because I thought it needed more depth. I added some smoked paprika and a bit of lemon juice at the end which really helped brighten it up. The original recipe called for too much salt in my opinion so I cut that back and used more herbs instead. I also let it simmer longer than instructed maybe an extra 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Next time I might try adding some coconut milk to make it creamier. Let me know if you want me to send you the modified version. I think you would like it better than the original.
Also I used that olive oil you recommended and it made a noticeable difference. The texture was much smoother and the flavor felt more rounded. I think the key was letting the onions cook slowly before adding the other ingredients. That step really builds a solid base.
