I looked into those storage bins you mentioned and found some that would work well in the garage. The heavy-duty ones with locking lids should keep out moisture and pests. I measured the shelving unit and each bin needs to be no more than 18 inches wide to fit properly. The clear plastic ones make it easier to find things without opening every box. I think getting six to start would be enough to organize the holiday decorations and camping gear that's been piling up. Let me know if you want me to pick up a few when I go to the store this weekend.
I found a few different sizes at the home improvement store and the medium ones seemed like the best value. They stack well and the lids snap on securely. I set one up in the garage yesterday and it held all the extension cords and holiday lights without any trouble.

I tried making that lentil soup recipe you shared and it turned out really well. I added a bit more cumin than called for and used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. The key was letting it simmer for at least 45 minutes so the lentils softened completely. I also threw in some chopped kale at the end for extra color and nutrients. My family really enjoyed it and my partner asked me to make it again next week. I might try adding some sweet potato next time to give it a slightly different flavor profile. Thanks for the recommendation.
The leftovers kept well in the fridge for a few days and the flavor actually deepened overnight. I served it with crusty bread and a side salad and it made for a very satisfying meal that didn't take too much effort to prepare.
