Road Kit Courtesy for AAA Licensed Drivers

I think we should go ahead with the lake trip next weekend. The weather forecast looks good and the cabin is still available. I checked with the group and everyone seems fine with the dates. We will need to coordinate who brings what for meals. I can handle the grill and some sides. Sarah said she would bring dessert. We should probably plan for some activities as well. Maybe kayaking or hiking depending on how people feel. The kids will enjoy the playground near the cabin. I will send out a more detailed schedule later this week. Let me know if you think we need to adjust anything before I send the final confirmation to everyone. The drive should take about three hours from the city. We could leave Friday afternoon and come back Sunday. That gives us plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery. I am looking forward to it actually. It has been a while since we all got together like this.

I reserved the cabin already under my name. The confirmation number is 4729. They said check in is at 3pm on Friday and checkout is at 11am on Sunday. I made sure to get the one with the larger porch because I know you like sitting outside in the morning. There is also a fire pit which will be nice in the evening. I will bring some firewood. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions I should know about for the meal planning. I want to make sure everyone has something they can eat.

I have been looking into the community garden plot assignment process and wanted to share what I found out. The coordinator mentioned that plots are assigned based on application date and neighborhood zone. There is a waitlist for the larger plots near the water spigot. The smaller ones closer to the parking lot tend to have more availability. If you want a specific plot size, I would suggest submitting your application early in the season. They usually open applications in mid March. I can send you the link if you need it. Also, they have a shared tool shed with rakes, shovels, and hoses that members can use. There is a small annual fee for the tool access but the basic plot fee covers water and mulch. I think it is a good setup for anyone who wants to grow vegetables or flowers without having a yard at home. The garden is located behind the community center on Maple Street. I visited last week and the soil looked well maintained. There are raised beds available too if you prefer that option.

I also spoke with someone who has had a plot there for three years. She said the key is to plant early because the summer heat can be intense for certain crops. She recommended tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers as good choices for that location. She also said the community events they hold there are nice. There is a harvest gathering in September.
