I was just thinking about what you said regarding the garden. I finally got those tomato plants in the ground last weekend and they are already showing new growth. The weather has been really cooperative lately with just enough rain to keep everything green without drowning the roots. I tried that trick you mentioned with the eggshells and coffee grounds mixed into the soil around the base of the plants. My neighbor noticed the difference right away and asked what I had done differently this year. I also started a small herb patch with basil, rosemary, and thyme near the kitchen window so I can snip them easily when cooking. The rosemary seems to be the hardiest of the bunch so far. I am going to try adding a few pepper plants next weekend if the forecast holds.
Let me know if you have any other tips for keeping the slugs away. The beer trap method you told me about worked better than anything I have tried before. I also noticed the marigolds you recommended are blooming nicely along the border.

I finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you sent over a few weeks ago. It turned out really well even though I made a couple of substitutions based on what I had in the pantry. I used penne instead of spaghetti and added some roasted cherry tomatoes for extra sweetness. The whole thing came together in about thirty minutes which was perfect for a weeknight dinner. My family cleaned their plates and asked if I would make it again next week. I think the secret was letting the garlic simmer just long enough to infuse the oil without burning it. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. Let me know if you have any other weeknight recipes that come together that fast.
I also tried that white bean and kale soup you recommended. It was hearty without being heavy and the leftovers were even better the next day.
